Transportation in Toronto
Driving
Unless you live, work and play in downtown and don’t need a car at all; driving a car is almost expected in Toronto (especially if you live outside of downtown in the GTA). Compared to say Montreal, traffic may not be as bad (less bumper to bumper traffic believe it or not), but the driving distances are much longer. It’s not uncommon to drive over an hour to get back home from work during rush hour. Road debris, and accidents are also a common sight. Be careful when driving!
TTC: Public Toronto Mass Transit
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is Toronto’s public transit agency that operates all the buses, subways, streetcars, and paratransit services. If you ask locals, they will often mock the reliability of the transit system, largely due to aging infrastructure; nevertheless it is still the most heavily used urban mass transit system in Canada.
